Swami Dayanand Saraswati, born as Mul Shankar, was an Indian scholar and theologian who played a pivotal role in the reformation of Hinduism.
Born into a Gujarati Brahmin family, he spent his youth as an ascetic, traveling across the country in search of his guru.
Founding the Arya Samaj
In 1875, Saraswati established the Arya Samaj, a Hindu socio-religious reform movement, in Bombay.
