          Georges Clemenceau[1] (Mouilleron-en-Pareds (Vendée), September, 28 1841 – November 24, 1929) was a French statesman, physician and journalist.

          He led France during World War I and was one of the major voices behind the Treaty of Versailles, chairing the Paris Peace Conference, 1919. He famously anticipated that the German economy would quickly recover because German industry had largely survived the war, while France's had not.
